When using TaxSolutions.AI, resolving any macro-related issues is crucial to organizing your report effectively. Follow these steps to enable and utilize macros within your report:
Step 1: Locate Your Downloaded Report
After generating the tax report, navigate to your downloads folder to locate the file.
Make sure you identify the correct report, which is typically named with a timestamp or descriptive label.
Step 2: Unblock the Report File
Right-click on the report file.
Select Properties from the context menu.
In the General tab, look towards the bottom for an option that says "Unblock".
Tick the box next to "Unblock" to enable macros required to organize your report.
Click Apply and then OK to confirm your changes.
Step 3: Open the Report and Enable Macros
Open the report by double-clicking the file.
When prompted, make sure to Allow Macros to run. Macros are essential for automating tasks within the report.
Step 4: Review the Report
Once macros are enabled, take a close look at the data in the report.
Navigate to the Master Sheet to review recorded transactions.
Identify any discrepancies or transactions that need manual input. Examples include:
Transferring to other wallets: Ensure that transfers between wallets are correctly recorded and identified in the report.
Using services like Simple Swap or Fixed Float: Verify that exchanges or swaps via these services are accounted for accurately.
Following these steps ensures that the macros can automate most of the data organization, leaving only a few specific manual adjustments for accurate tax reporting.
If you are unable to run macros in your report, your Excel settings may be preventing them. Follow these steps to change your settings and allow macros to run:
Enable Macros in Excel Settings
Open Excel Options:
Launch Excel and click on File > Options.
Access Trust Center Settings:
In the Excel Options window, select Trust Center from the left-hand menu.
Click on Trust Center Settings.
Change Macro Settings:
In the Trust Center window, click on Macro Settings.
Choose the appropriate option to enable macros:
"Disable all macros with notification": This option will prompt you each time you open a file with macros, allowing you to decide whether to enable them.
"Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run)": This option allows all macros to run without prompting. Use this if you trust the files you are working with.
Enable VBA and COM Add-Ins (Optional):
In the Macro Settings section, also check the box for "Trust access to the VBA project object model" if you need to run macros that interact with VBA.
If you're using any add-ins that rely on macros, navigate to Add-Ins in Excel Options and ensure that relevant add-ins are enabled.
Add Trusted Locations (Optional):
To avoid repetitive prompts when opening files from specific folders, you can add these folders to Trusted Locations.
In the Trust Center, click on Trusted Locations and then Add new location.
Browse to the folder where your reports are saved (e.g., your downloads folder) and click OK to add it.
Save Changes:
Click OK to close all settings windows and save the changes.
After completing these steps, close and reopen the report. Excel will now allow macros to run according to your specified settings, which should resolve most macro-related issues and help automate the data organization in your tax report.
If you need to run macros manually within your report, follow these steps:
Open the Report:
Open the report in Excel where the macro is required.
Access the Developer Tab:
If the Developer tab is not visible, you need to enable it:
Click on File > Options.
Go to Customize Ribbon.
Tick the checkbox for Developer on the right pane and click OK.
Run the Macro:
Click on the Developer tab.
Select Macros from the toolbar (usually near the middle).
A list of available macros will be displayed.
Select the macro you wish to run, then click Run.
Shortcut Option:
If you know the macro name, you can also press Alt + F8 to open the list of macros and select the one to run manually.
Running macros manually can be useful if they did not run automatically when the report was opened or if you need to execute a specific macro multiple times while making changes.
